Day 1

Your adventure through the Red Centre begins with the striking scenery of the Western MacDonnell Ranges. We take you through the unique rock formations of Ellery Creek Big Hole, Glen Helen Gorge and a hike around the spectacular Ormiston Gorge. We travel through Tylers Pass via Gosse Bluff, a crater some believe is 130 million years old to Hermannsburg Aboriginal Community. The track of the ancient Finke River takes us to the home of Albert Namitjira, the famous Aboriginal painter from where we 4WD onto Palm Valley for our overnight bush camp. (LD)

Day 2

We explore Palm Valley including Cycad Gorge. You will see one of the rarest trees in the world in this beautiful National Park, the tropical palm Livistonia Mariae. We then head towards Kings Canyon along the Mereenie Track and enjoy a relaxing afternoon before tucking into great camp oven cooking and settling down for the night. (BLD)

Day 3

Climb and explore the spectacular Kings Canyon, viewing the 'Amphitheatre', 'The Lost City', the picturesque 'Garden of Eden' and the breathtaking North and South Walls. Moving on to Curtin Springs Cattle Station (4162 Sq km) we meet some locals before heading to the base of Mt Connor and our bush camp (no facilities this night). (BLD)

Note: We will visit another place of interest when Mount Connor is inaccessible.

Day 4

We leave Mt Connor and travel on to explore Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and hike the Valley of the Winds. After a visit to the Cultural Centre, we watch the desert sun set over Uluru (Ayers Rock) before heading to our overnight camp. (BLD)

Note: Glen Helen may be used for our overnight camp on the reverse itinerary.

Day 5

An early start is required for one of the highlights of the tour - the Uluru (Ayers Rock) sunrise. The challenge of the optional Uluru climb is rewarded with an incredible view of the rock and the changing light on the desert. This spectacular experience is followed by a base tour, exploring the mysterious rock formations & Aboriginal art sites of this extraordinary rock. After lunch, the tour ends for passengers flying out of Ayers Rock and the rest of the group returns to Alice Springs to relive their experiences over the after tour meal. (BLD)
