Day 1: Alice Springs
On arrival you will be transferred
to your hotel (flights into Alice Springs prior to 1.00pm). This afternoon
enjoy a tour of Alice Springs including the historic Telegraph Station,
Royal Flying Doctor Service, School of the Air and the Alice Springs Reptile
Centre. The final stop is Anzac Hill lookout to take in the panorama of
Alice Springs. Accommodation: Alice Springs Resort, 2 nights.
Day 2: West MacDonnell Ranges
- Alice Springs Desert Park
Today travel west following
the spectacular West MacDonnell Ranges to Simpsons Gap and Standley Chasm.
Continue to Ellery Creek Big Hole, before arriving at Ormiston Gorge for
a delicious picnic lunch (opportunity for swimming in the hotter months).
Travel to the Alice Springs Desert Park, where you will see unique Australian
wildlife including the 'Birds of Prey' Display. (L)
Day 3: Ayers Rock - The
Olgas
Travel through the West MacDonnell
Ranges and stop at a camel farm for morning tea. Later stop to view majestic
Mt. Conner, before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort. This afternoon tour
the Olgas (Kata Tjuta), then off to watch sunset over Ayers Rock
(Uluru) while enjoying a complimentary glass of wine. Accommodation:
Outback Pioneer Hotel, Ayers Rock Resort.
Day 4: Ayers Rock - Alice
Springs
An optional tour to view sunrise
over Ayers Rock is available at no extra charge (tea and coffee included).
An early start also, for those wishing to climb Ayers Rock. Tour the monolith's
base, visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre and perhaps,
take an optional scenic flight (own expense). Depart for Alice Springs
this afternoon to arrive early evening. Accommodation: Alice Springs
Resort, 2 nights.
Day 5: Palm Valley
Today's 4WD Safari travels
to Hermannsburg, then down the bed of the Finke River, one of the oldest
watercourses in the world, into Palm Valley. See spectacular rock formations
and relic plants that are unique to Central Australia. On the return journey
relax and enjoy watching the changing colours of the magnificent West
MacDonnell Ranges. (L)
Day 6: Desert Discovery
Tour
This morning
spend time with a local Aboriginal guide as we travel to a site of significance
to the Arrernte people, on a Desert Discovery Tour. See demonstrations
of boomerang and spear throwing, and after a morning tea of billy tea
and damper, learn about tribal life, languages, art, dance and music.
Touring concludes with a transfer to your hotel or to the airport. Flights
must be booked to depart after 11.45am (Note: Airfare not included with
this tour).

Today travel by 4WD through
rugged countryside to the historical township of Hermannsburg. Continue
along the rocky and sandy course of the Finke River into Palm Valley,
where you will see a unique desert oasis. (L)
Day 4: Ayers Rock - The
Olgas
Travelling south, stop at a
camel farm and later view Mt. Conner before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort.
Afternoon visit to the Olgas (Kata Tjuta) before witnessing sunset
over Ayers Rock (Uluru) while enjoying a complimentary glass of
wine. Accommodation: Sails in the Desert Hotel, Ayers Rock Resort.
Day 5: Ayers Rock - Kings
Canyon
Early start for those who wish
to view sunrise over Ayers Rock (tea and coffee included). The climb to
the summit is available for the energetic. After exploring the base, stop
at the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. Time at leisure
before travelling to Kings Canyon Resort. Accommodation: Kings Canyon
Resort - Rangeview Rooms.
Day 6: Kings Canyon - Alice
Springs
The rocky climb to the rim
of the Canyon is for the energetic. Alternatively, you may wish to explore
the boulder-strewn Canyon floor. Return to Alice Springs in the early
evening. Accommodation: Alice Springs Resort.
Day 7: Desert Discovery
Tour
