4 Days Kakadu, Arnhem Land, Twin Falls and Jim Jim Falls - Free 'Meet & Greet'

Day 1: Darwin – Kakadu

This morning we travel along the Arnhem Highway into Kakadu National Park. Stop at Nourlangie Rock, where your Guide will lead a walk to view ancient Aboriginal rock art. After lunch we join our local guide for a cruise on Yellow Water Billabong. Enjoy spectacular scenes of paperbark swamps, waterlillies, bird life and you may be lucky enough to spot a saltwater crocodile. We make a visit to the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre. Accommodation: Gagadju Crocodile Holiday Inn or Kakadu Lodge, 3 nights. (L)

Day 2: Arnhem Land – 4WD Adventure

Join the Arnhemlander Tour today and journey into some of the more remote and restricted areas of Kakadu as guests of the Bunidji people. Visit historic rock art sites that are protected by a towering escarpment and hear some of the mythology of the surrounding country (refer to page 37 for details). (L)

Day 3: Jim Jim and Twin Falls – 4WD Adventure

Watch the sun rise over Kakadu as we travel deep into Kakadu to Jim Jim Falls Gorge. A short bushwalk and climb through monsoon forest will take us to the spectacular Gorge, where you may take a refreshing swim. Then a short drive to Twin Falls Gorge, where we paddle canoes to the base of the falls. There is time for swimming and enjoying the beauty of this region. Late afternoon return to Jabiru. (L)

Note: Touring is by small 4WD vehicle. Participants must have a reasonable level of fitness and be able to paddle their own canoe. Children under 12 years not recommended. Day 3 touring may alter due to seasonal conditions.

Day 4: Kakadu - Darwin

This morning stop at Ubirr with a short walk to view rock art.

Join the Guluyambi Cruise along the East Alligator River in search of saltwater crocodiles. We have an Aboriginal guide with us and with the special permission of the local people, we will be able to go ashore in Arnhem Land.Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre. Opportunity for an optional scenic flight over the Arnhem Land Escarpment (replaces Bowali Visitor Centre). Return journey to Darwin, arriving at approximately 7.30pm. (L)

4 Days Tropical Top End- Free 'Meet & Greet'

Day 1: Darwin - Kakadu

This morning we travel through the Marrakai Plains and at Adelaide River join the famous Jumping Crocodile Cruise, where your local guide will entice crocodiles to leap from the water. Travel into Kakadu National Park, where there is time for an optional scenic flight. Enjoy a guided walk to view ancient Aboriginal rock art and then to the top of Ubirr for magnificent views. Accommodation: Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn, Kakadu Resort or Kakadu Lodge. (L)

Day 2: Kakadu - Katherine

Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre, then Nourlangie Rock - home to some of the finest Aboriginal rock art in the Kakadu region. Continue to the Warradjan Cultural Centre, before joining a cruise on the famous Yellow Water Billabong where we may observe saltwater crocodiles and prolific wildlife. This afternoon travel to Pine Creek and on to Katherine. Accommodation: Mercure Inn Katherine. (L)

Day 3: Katherine - Darwin

Cruise through Katherine Gorge and watch for crocodiles basking in the sun. Inspect the National Park Information Centre, before continuing to the beautiful setting of Edith Falls, where there is time to take a refreshing swim. Stop at the Adelaide River War Cemetery, before returning to Darwin at approximately 6.00pm. Accommodation: Rydges Plaza (DG45F), Holiday Inn (DG45K) or Darwin City YHA (DG45L). (L)

Day 4: Litchfield National Park

Leaving Darwin, travel south on the Stuart Highway passing WWII airstrips to Litchfield National Park. Make the drive into the Tabletop Range and view Florence and Tolmer Falls from a lookout positioned high above the falls. Continue to Wangi Falls, a serene natural waterhole where there is time to relax and swim. Return to Darwin at approximately 6.00pm. (L)
