Day 1: Ayers Rock - The Olgas

(Flights to arrive prior to 1.00pm). On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. This afternoon explore the Olgas (Kata Tjuta) before continuing on to watch sunset over Ayers Rock (Uluru) and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine. Accommodation: Desert Gardens Hotel, Ayers Rock Resort.

Day 2: Ayers Rock - Kings Canyon

View an Ayers Rock sunrise or alternatively, a 6.45am start for those wishing to climb. A tour of the monolith's base is included and time is also available to take an optional scenic flight. Visit the informative Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. Travel this afternoon to Kings Canyon Resort. Accommodation: Kings Canyon Resort - Rangeview Rooms.

Day 3: Kings Canyon - Alice Springs

This morning we make the rocky climb to the rim of the Canyon for marvellous views. Alternatively, you may wish to explore the boulder-strewn Canyon floor. Stop at Kings Canyon Resort for lunch (own expense) before continuing to Alice Springs. Accommodation: Alice Springs Resort.

Day 4: Alice Springs - Darwin

Morning at leisure or perhaps take the optional Aboriginal Cultural Tour (own expense) before your transfer to the airport for your flight to Darwin (flight not included in tour cost). You will be transferred to your hotel on arrival in Darwin. Accommodation: Rydges Plaza, Darwin.

Day 5: Darwin - Kakadu

Travel via the Marrakai Plains to join the famous Jumping Crocodile Cruise. Continue deep into Kakadu and on to Ubirr, the renowned Aboriginal art site. An optional scenic flight is available this afternoon. Accommodation: Kakadu Resort. (L)

Day 6: Kakadu National Park

Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre, then Nourlangie Rock to view Aboriginal rock art. Join the famous Yellow Water Billabong cruise to observe saltwater crocodiles and prolific bird life. Visit the Warradjan Cultural Centre, before continuing south to Katherine. Accommodation: Mercure Inn, Katherine. (L)

Day 7: Katherine Gorge - Darwin

Enjoy a cruise this morning through Katherine Gorge in the Nitmiluk National Park. Continue to beautiful Edith Falls, where there is an opportunity for swimming before returning to Darwin. Accommodation: Rydges Plaza, Darwin. (L)

Day 8: Depart Darwin

Leisurely morning, before your transfer to the airport for your flight out (flights anytime).

Day 1: Darwin

On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel (flights anytime). The remainder of the day is free to explore Darwin. You might like to join an optional tour (refer to page 31 for details). Accommodation: Rydges Plaza, Darwin, 3 nights.

Day 2: Litchfield National Park

Travel south to Litchfield National Park. View Florence Falls and Tolmer Falls from a lookout positioned high above the falls. Continue to Wangi Falls, a natural waterhole where there is time to relax and swim. (L)

Day 3: Darwin

Morning at leisure. This afternoon join a tour of Darwin. See the Chinese Temple and the lush Botanical Gardens. Tour historic sites including East Point Military Precinct. See the Stokes Hall Wharf area and explore the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory.

Day 4: Darwin - Kakadu

Join the famous Jumping Crocodile Cruise, where your local guide will entice crocodiles to leap from the water. Travel into Kakadu National Park, where thereis time for an optional scenic flight. Enjoy a guided walk to view ancient rock art and then to the top of Ubirr for magnificent views. Accommodation: Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn, Kakadu. (L)

Day 5: Kakadu - Katherine

Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre, then Nourlangie Rock - home of some of the finest Aboriginal rock art in the Kakadu region. Continue to the Warradjan Cultural Centre, before joining a cruise on the famous Yellow Water Billabong. This afternoon travel via Pine Creek to Katherine. Accommodation: Mercure Inn, Katherine. (L)

Day 6: Katherine - Darwin

Cruise through Katherine Gorge and inspect the National Park Information Centre. Continue to the beautiful setting of Edith Falls, where there is time for a swim. Return to Darwin at approximately 6.00pm. Accommodation: Rydges Plaza, Darwin, 2 nights. (L)

Day 7: Territory Wildlife Park

This morning spend time at the multi-award winning Territory Wildlife Park. Return to Darwin at approximately 12.30pm. Remainder of day is at leisure. You may like to join an optional tour (see page 31).

Day 4 Manyallaluk - Darwin

You will be picked up from your hotel this morning and transferred to the Aboriginal Community at Manyallaluk. At Manyallaluk we join our Aboriginal guides for a bushwalk, learn about their culture and bush survival skills. You may even have the chance to taste bush foods. Enjoy freshly cooked damper with a barbecue lunch. This afternoon learn Aboriginal crafts - basket weaving, bark painting and spear throwing, a memorable learning experience! Transfer back to Katherine where you join your coach for the journey back to Darwin. (L)

Indigenous Cultural Experiences

   Arnhemlander Tour Top End

This tour will allow you to see places inaccessible without permission from the traditional owners. Accompanied by an Aboriginal guide, travel by 4WD to the Mikinj Valley in Arnhem Land. Hear of traditional land ownership, learn of bush skills, hunting, food gathering and preparation ('bush tucker') and view Aboriginal art in its natural state.

   Desert Discovery Tour Alice Springs

Our Aboriginal guide joins us in Alice Springs for the short journey to the commencement of our guided walk. On the walk you will be introduced to the Dreamtime stories of the Arrernte landscape and the relationship of Aboriginal people to the land and nature. You will see demonstrations of boomerang and spear throwing, and learn about traditional sources for food and medicine. We continue onwards to the Aboriginal Cultural Experience Centre. Here you will witness a unique mixture of dance, music and story telling. You will have the opportunity to interact with our host.

   Red Centre Dreaming Alice Springs

An interactive evening of entertainment by local Aboriginal artists and a three-course dinner in a bushland setting.The contemporary Aboriginal performance 'Red Centre Dreaming' combines traditional dancing, didgeridoo playing and fireside story telling.
